On the occasion of the swearing-in, Okowa emphasized his strong stance against government corruption and waste. He remarked that the cost of doing business in the country rises in concert with the growth of corruption, and pledged to fight the drain on his state’s resources. He additionally called on the new officials to be diligent in eliminating waste in their respective departments.
